I need help to Restore Oracle11g Archive Logs.

Running this command bellow i get errors:

hello

we decided to deploy Backup exec software to backup an Oracle Database 11g R2 64 bit installed on a two nodes Red Hat Cluster ....

this is not an Oracle RAC... both Nodes has oracle installed on it... and the Red Hat cluster manages the failover of the database...

we have another two RedHat servers .. but the otehr two servers are stand alone servers with oracle databases installed on them...

and i have installed the RALUS on the four servers... as for the two stand alone servers .. there is no problem in backing up the databases or  the file systems ....

but ... for the Red Hat cluster.... there is some problems....

first.. the cluster has a virtual IP... and that IP corresponds to a FQDN for the Cluster... i have installed the RALUS on the active node using that FQDN corresponding to the Virtual IP .. and then i switched the cluster to the second node and then installed the RALUS on the second node using the same FQDN ... 

and everything is normal... i can backup and restore to the active node which has the Virtual IP and the FQDN corresponding to it... but...

when the cluster switches on... the Agent goes down.... and when it comes up it oppens a port using the physical IP of the server.. not the virtual IP of the cluster... so... the job fails....

how can i make the RALUS stick to the virtual IP of the cluster... not to the physical IP...

I need a solution

Hello,

I am looking for some help on redirecting a Hyper-V VM to the same host it was backup from but with a different VM name. I want to test re-storing VM's but I do not want to overwrite the original VM.

Any help or pointers would be great. I am using BE2012.

Hello,

     I have a single 2003 server runing Backup Exec 2012 and will be adding another 2008 server to the domain.  It will be primarily the SQL database and programs.  I have purchased the Backup Exec 2012 Agent for Applications and Databases.  How do I install this?  I cannot see where to download the software.......It is our hope that we can back up the data on the second server to the USB attached Dell RD1000 device on the first server....perhaps you can point me to the relevant section is the users manual.....

Hi,

I got two (2) servers running the following:

 

Server 1 Windows 2012 DataCenter with four VMs

- VM 1 = runs Exchange

- VM 2 = runs Exchange

- VM 3 = SQL

- VM 4 = AD

 

Server 2 Windows 2012 STD

- Active Directory

 

Question:

1. How many license for Backup Exec Agent for Applications and Databases do I need for my First Server?

              ---> Do I still need purchase a  license for Backup agent for windows and how many?

 

2. Are there are other licenses required to restore Virtual Machine OSE to a Physical OSE on different hardware ?  

              ---> Virtual to Physical conversion.

 

 

3. For my second server, I understand a license for Backup Exec Agent for Applications and Databases si required to backup my AD.

             ---> Do I need a backup agent for windows to allow me to do a full system backup (image backup) and  baremetal restore ?

Hi all,

having a problem with my weekly duplicate backups to my robotic library and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Job configuration:
"Duplicate", Source:"Most recent full backup", Storage: "IBM Tape library", Media Set: "3 weeks".

Media set configuration:
Overwrite protection period: "3 weeks"
Append peroid" Infinite - Allow append"

Each week im replacing the weekly tapes with new ones and associate the new tapes with this mediaset.

So hm, and here's my problem: When the job begoíns to run, it says that no overwritable media can be found. As I understand, the "Allocated Date" begins from the time on  the media is associated with the mediaset. So the overwrite protection is from this time on 3 weeks. So my backups never start...

But how do I have to set up my mediaset? I want that the backup files on tape are protected for at least 3 weeks and can be appendable infinite. So when the tape is full within these 3 weeks, the robotic library uses the next tape. At the moment I associate the tapes withe the mediaset "Scratch Media" and this helps me out at the moment.

Hi All,

I am looking for some information about having 2 x Backup Exec (12.5 & 2012) sharing 1 x tape library.

Backup Exec 12.5 is a physical machine & 2012 is going to be on a virtual machine - zoning is done, both servers can see FC tape library.

I am hoping to assign no. of tapes to a new media set on the new 2012 Backup Exec server for any backups running via this new server (2012).

J'ai actuellement en à ma disposition une baie de disque DELL DR4000. Il met impossible de me connecté dessus via Backup Exec alors que sous Windows je peu y accéder ainsi qui placer des fichiers via un mappage.

J'utilise un compte utilisateur du domaine et ma baie fait partie du domaine.

I am new to Backup Exec, I am trying to backup from my windows 2008 r2 server to a Dell Tape Drive. Do I have to do anything to the tapes before I use them? I have not been able to get a bakup to run successfully since the initial test run. Any suggestions?

I need a solution

I have a question on the converting P2V.  I have BE 2012 and it has this nifty feature Backup to Disk and Simultaneously Convert to Virtual Machine.  I've been checking it out, watching the videos.  I'd like to try this out but this is what I'm running up against.  The server I want to virtualize has 380 some odd gig of harddrive space but there's only around 45 GB that's being used.  When i start walking through the conversion process, I see you can change the RAM and CPU count but it doesn't allow you to change the disk size.  I guess my question is during the conversion does it actually convert the entire disk space on the physical server - would it indeed create a 380 some odd gig .vhd file?

I know the ram requirements for the dedupe option is 8gb for 5tb of dedupe data.  can this ram be virtual memory or does it have to be physical memory.

our server has  20tb of storage but only 6gb ram.  will virtual memory do the trick?

When I restore a file from a tape, there was an error:

Restore- SharePoint - WEBAPP80\Content-DB 1 (SP-SQL\WSS_Content_Portal) V-79-57344-33938 - 

An error occurred on a query to filegroup WSS_Content_Portal\/\xxxsite\Documents\..XXXXXX.xlsx.

 

Exceptions shows:

 

Restore- SharePoint - WEBAPP80\Content-DB 1 (SP-SQL\WSS_Content_Portal) WARNING: The file xxxx.xlsx was restored from a file that was corrupt when it was backed up, or the backup file is now missing or corrupt.  Try restoring the file from another backup, or try repairing the file.

 

It is a Backup Exec 2010 R3 SP2 version 5204 64-bit version.

The SharePoint is version 2010.

 

I read the article at http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH169440 which suggests a word around but I don't have an Alternate SharePoint farm.
