Does Exchange Management Console need to be installed on BUE 2010 SP3 server?

If I am using Backup Exec 2010 SP3 to backup an Exchange 2010 server, do I need to have the Exchange Management Console installed on the BE server? 

If yes, and I update the version of Exchange to the latest service pack, do I also need to make sure that the EMC on the BE Server is also patched up to the latest version?
