BE 2012 upgrade from 12.0

Hi,
My reseller tells me that I can easy upgrade my existing installation of BE 12.0 to BE 14.0.
Now during the installation I can see that it is impossible. I found that article http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag... where is:
"Upgrading to the current version of Backup Exec from a version before 12.5 requires a multi-step process."
Is that mean that I must uninstall old BE 12.0, install new version 14.0 and then configure all at the beginning? Or is some way to grab all settings from my old installation?
In this article: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag... you can read: “In order to run a direct path upgrade to Backup Exec 2012 a version of Backup Exec later than or equal to 12.5 is required.”
So is any other upgrade method than “direct path”?
