Backup error on media server with temporary files from AVVI
I need a solution
Hi,
I have an intermittent error on the backup of a BE2012 media server (see screenshot).
The media server c:\ volume is fully backed up. Only some directories on other volume aren't backed up and the local dedup folder (see screenshot).
Any idea?

Backup Exec 2012 exchange restore PF data asking for old b2d file
I need a solution
Hello. I have a backup exec 2012 set up to do weekly backup of exchange 2012 on windows server 2008R2. This is followed by incremental. the backup is targeted on an RD1000 external drive.
I have a full backup from this past Friday I would like to restore data from. I choose the restore option, filter the date based on when the backup occurred, select the data I need restored (granular data from a public folder), set the job to run.
The restore ejects the drive containing the backup and requests an old B2D file.
I have verified the backup ran and to what B2D file, but the restore is asking the old B2D file.
I can see from the backup job history that the backup of the data in question went to a file called B2D001743; the restore is asking for B2D000165.
I checked the properties of the full backup job and it is set to do a full backup each friday; it appears to snapshot the system.
Any suggestion on how I can restore the data I need?

Backup exec job rate has reduced dramatically
I need a solution
Hi,
Total time to complete the backup was aroun8 hours and now its taking double the time to complete not sure whats the exact reason.
When checked , the difference was only in the job rate which has dramatically reduced and that was the problem
what needs to be done to improve the job rate or taking it back to normal,
This is happening when backing up the local file server. Something has to be done on the local server or Backup server not sure
Please help!!!

Hingegen wird bei dem inkrementellen Backup ein Fehler gemeldet, wonach die System Files beshcädigt sind.
Überprüfen- \\LEONARDO.thomae.nickisch\System?State
Daten für \\LEONARDO.thomae.nickisch\System?State\System Files\System Files sind beschädigt.
Ünberrsáschenderweise kommt der Fehler erst beim Überprüfen.
Woran kann das liegen ?

I am Running Back-up Exec 2012 on Windows Server 2012, I am Logging onto the Server with a BackupAdmin Account,
I am able to do all the Backup to a LTO-5 HP Data Cartridge. But when we do a test Restore to the Server I am getting the Following Error message
Server -- ServerName
Storage --NA--
Job Name -- ServerName Restore 0013
Date & Time 7/5/2013 9:51:55 AM
Meesage: ServerName Restore 00013 -- The job failed with the following error: Backup Exec could not log on to the server with the logon account specified for it. The logon account does not have valid credentials. Ensure that the user name and password are correct in the logon account.
We also log into the Server with the Main Admin Account, and tried the Restore and still had the same Error message, Server Logon Account we are selecting the System Logon Account for this.

Backup Exec 2012 Trial Agent
I need a solution
Hi there,
Currently I'm facing issue with Backup Agent uninstallation. The Backup Exec 2012 all the while is working fine, until the day when I renew my Backup Exec 2012 license and I noticed that there's additional column indicating I'm using Trial version for few other agent like Linux agent. I never install that agent from the beginning and I didn't see there's any option for me to uninstall these agents.
Solution and advise from the expert are greatly appreciated.

we have a Full (SDR) Backup of a Windows 2008 R2 Server (member server) on a USB HDD.
The Server is a HP DL 380P Gen8 with 2 * 6 Core CPU's.
When we try to make a SDR Restore to another Server (HP ML350 G6) we got an error when it is restoring the System State :

Mailbox database not showing under first storage group

I noticed trying to do a restore that about a week ago under 'first information store' it would show 'mailbox database'. now it doesn't show it at all. I don't get any information at all even though the backups say ok.

Restore of Exchange Public Folder
I need a solution
We have two servers Main and Test. We backup Main but not Test and there is no Backup Exec agent on Test. The main system has Backup Exec 2010 R3 13.0 5024 and also an Exchange Agent., Main is the media server.
We are trying to restore an Exchange Public Folder on the Main machine, backed up from the Main system public folders, restoring it back to the Main system public folder (either to its original location or redirected) but the restore job always fails because there is no agent on the test machine. There is no replica of the public folders on the Test machine either (other than the Exchange System folders).

Why do we need an agent on the Test machine or how do we stop the restore trying to access it.
The system backups up the Main system with no errors and because there is no backup of the Test Machine an agent is not required. Main back is to Tape device and there were no issues duplicating the backup to disk so that we can do the restore.
Systems are running Windows 2008, Main has Exchange 2010 and Test has Exchange 2007.

BE 2012 DeDup Option and NDMP Backups
I need a solution
Based on what I'm seeing, the NDMP back up streams are not being DeDuplicated or the deduplication ratio is non existent.
My questions is: If I have NDMP disabled on the NetApp filers and back up the volumes via CIFS shares, will I be able to DeDuplicate the data in this manner?

Backup Exec 2010 R3 - backing up itself issue

I am having an issue whereby snapshot processing is taking roughly 1 hours before the backup job will actually start writing data to the destination. In this particular case the desitination is a tape and the backup source is the backup server(media server) itself.
I have a physical backup server that has Backup Exec 2010 R3 installed. This server is attached to two storage systems via FC, a DS3524 and a DS4700.
The DS3524 contains VMs and the DS4700 contains a few VMs (DEV) and is the location of the LUN presented to the backup server that is mounted as an NTFS volume. This NTFS volume contains data I need to backup to tape.
All LUNS (except fot the LUN mounted on the backup server) appear as non-initialized in Disk Management, this is because I have set the policy on the backup server to not automount devices as the other LUNS contain VMFS datastores. There are roughly 30 LUNS.
When I attempt to backup the backup server itself during the snapshot processing stage the event viewer is throwing the following warning for all LUNS that are non-initialized:
ASR Warning: Failed to collect disk information for ASR Backup. Reason: Unable to obtain disk information for device xx
The process of VSS attempting to gather info for each of the 30 LUNS is taking roughly 1 hour.
I understand why VSS cannot gather this information (LUNS offline) but why is backup exec (or the VSS service) trying to gather information about devices that are not even part of the backup job? And is there a way around this?

i have windows 2008R2 installed Syamentec Backup Exec 2012 with fully patches, i have created some backup jobs of some server always backup jobs status changing to superceded or Queued, i am really fed-up with this even i am unable to delete the backup or server it is just hanging, this new version of the Syamtec i think came with full of bugs. please any one can help.

Job starts several days after its scheduled start
I do not need a solution (just sharing information)
I had a problem where I noticed that a job I had scheduled in BEX2010 was not appearing on the calendar until weeks after it was supposed to start. I tried adjusting the schedule, but the more I changed it, the further back the job was appearing on the schedule.
There was another entry about this without a good resolution. I discovered a simple fix that worked for me, so I thought I'd share it.
In my case, copying the job fixed the problem. I just right-clicked the job in the Job Setup, selected "Copy...", deleted the original, and renamed the copy back to the name of the original job. The scheduling bug didn't exist in the copy.
Hope this helps someone.
