I need a solution

I was going to open a support case, but then I found this:

It said it was a known issue and last updated on 2011. Is there any patch or hotfix for this? I already tried removed MMS and restart all BE services.

Now when I try to recreate the dedupe storage (on MMS) with any name, even deleted the old folder, still gave me the same error: dedupe storage with the same name already exists??

Some background: I had two 3600 appliances setup as CAS+MMS. I factory reset the MMS (without first remove it from CAS). Then re-join the MMS to CAS. Then the dedupe storage on the MMS disappear! And now I cannot create ANY dedupe storge on it, whatever name I gave it. I read some article on this forum that someone edit the BEDB tables to remove the "ghost" dedupe device. But is there a more standard way to fix it?

I need a solution

For some reason, I cannot push the remote agent to be installed from the BE server. I remembered that there was a way to install the remote agent locally on a remote server. However, I do not remember the steps. Any help is finding these steps for me is much appreciated.

I am attempting to restore a few mailboxes for Exchange 2010 from Backup Exec 2010.  The exchange backup is from a year ago and at that time the DAG was named DAG01.company.local.  For various reasons we have renamed our production DAG to DAG03.company.local.

When i try to run the restore job, under resource credentials i see the path to DAG01.company.local when testing the credentials.  The test fails saying a "communications failure has occured"  I am guessing this is because DAG01 no longer exists in our infrastructure.

My question then is how can I restore an exchange backup where the DAG name is no longer the same as the production one?

If i want to use this server as CASO (only CASO role for managing other BE servers), what items do i need to select in custom installation? Can i select only CASO under Enterprise Server Option or any other items?

What ionformation does the .DR file consists? Will it have any details about where the backup set resides? If so, I am running full backup to disk after some time it goes to tape as a duplicate data, if the disk backup sets are deleted will I be able to perform SDR using tape which was used for duplicate backup?

Hi all, we have a following scenario in my company

1. Server A with 2010 R3 installed that backups itself daily on an attached USB drive

2. Server B with 2010 R3 installed that backups itself daily on an attached USB drive

I need to connect another USB drive to the server B and backup bothe servers A+B onto a new USB drive for a remote off-site storage.  

When I try to backup server A from server B I get an error message telling me that the job cannot be completed because the remote computer has already a copy of 2010 R3 installed. 

Are there any workarounds for this?

WHile backing up data, I see that only the time between the actual BUE job start and end is displayed. However, it takes a long time for the entire operation to be finished from start to end. Why is the entire time not of significance?

Hi,

I read somewhere that there is no need to schedule the scan or inventory job ( Not that there is an option any way) in BE2012 as it's now done automatically.

In my case that was true, until for some reason it's no longer happening.

We have a BE 2012Sp1 etc.. installed on Windows 2008R2 with the latest service packs etc.. Dell TL2000 with 2 x LTO6 drives.

If we for some reason we omit the scan or inventory after inserting the tapes, the backup has effectively failed as it's not aware of the additional tapes, All the jobs are placed in queue, I then need to cancel them one by one which takes Hrs. on end. And only then I can run the scan manually or the inventory, effectively missing out on a backup.

Hi.!

 

I have backup exec 2012 version 14.0 Rev. 1798(64bit)

and create backup job for file server.

Full -> Incremental

Full: Once a month

Incremental: every 1day

It worked fine.

 

But a few day ago, differencial backup task backup all file.

Review the log

Usually full backup size is about 223GB and incremental size is about 1GB.

Now incremental backup size is 224GB every day.

No special option or configure in job.

I just added disk storage which is MSA60 encluser through the SAS cable.

It was configured RAID 5 and 12ea of 300GB SAS HDD.

 

How I fix it??

Hi,

I'm going to use Dedupe store to do some backing up.

To effectively do my backups I need to understand the flow of Duplicate backup ie.. 1st backup is to de-duplication store and then Duplicated to the tape.

Does the Duplicate job run using the source or does it use the Dedupe store to get the backup data to the tapes?

Hello.

We have a Fujitsu CS800 SAN. It is configured to share with Backup Exec 2012 Server (Windows Server 2008 based on). We also have a tape unit.

BE is configured to take backup on disk. First time was sucessfully, but no more. Error is V-79-57344-33039. Sometimes CS800 turns off.

I was looking TECH64761 and other on-line documents but I don't find enough information to solve my problem.

Please, I need to solve this in any way.

Hello

First the basics:

I am running Backup Exec 12.5 Rev 2213 with Service Pack 4 on a Windows 2003 Enterprise SP2 server. The Exchange server is a Windows 2003 Ent SP2 server also. I am running Exchange 203 ver 6.5.7638.1

My backup from this previous weekend failed, because it could not access one of the two mail stores(mail store 1). The error is V-79-57344-3396. This is the second time this has happened. I ran a seperate backup of the same mail store, and got the same results. My Exchange differential backup has not had the same issue. Before this error everything was running fine. On both backups, the first failed one and the seperate backup of the store, the data was clearly backed up, because the size of the backup corresponded with the size of the store. But for some reason the job says it cannot access the directory. When I go to the Restore application, it shows the backed up data as being empty. Attached is the Job file for the failed Full backup, and the Mailstore1, which is the backup of just the mail store that is the issue.

Actions taken:

I have researched this from the other posts on the forum, and I have restarted the Backup Exec service on the Exchange server before the latest attempt to do the Full backup.

I am not having this issue with any other backup that I am running on the other servers on my network.

 

Any help will be apprieciated.

Hello,

I notice that on a backup job properites in order to have the "simplified disaster recovery" option ON (green), I need to select all file and folders on my server's local drives.

What happens if I don't want to backup all the data, as there are some folders I really like to skip to save space?

Will I not be able at all to restore the server using SDR cd?

Or maybe I can still use it to restore only the data that was backed up?

I have a deduplicate disk, In Storage it appears twice.

For example:

 

- Deduplicate Disk ........................................  10 Tb

- Server Debian:

              -  Deduplicate Disk........................... 10 Tb

 

How i can delete the second form that its vinculated from debian server. symantec said me that deduplicate disk was shared in that server , but is not truth.

I am running BE 2010R3 with the Archive Option (for file system and mailbox archive) installed and configured.  Everything was running fine until I had a user who was unable to locate an archive email in their vault.  Troubleshooting revealed that there was a gap of missing messages.  I confirmed that the actual messages were archived OK.  I discovered that the timeframe of the missing messages coincided with a drive that had filled up to capacity - the same drive that contained the ArchiveIndex.

I had since moved the ArchiveIndex to a larger partition.  However, the "damage was done".  I discovered the 'indexcheck.exe' untility, and used it to verify the problem - that the items were missing from the index.  Running the utility with the -c MissingContent option produced the expected result.  During a maintenance window this weekend, I worked to rebuild the index and resolve the problem. 

After bringing down all the EV serivices, and creating a backup of the ArchiveIndex directory, I then removed all the 'ind_*' files.  I then ran 'indexcheck.exe' with the -c exist command, and specified a .csv file for output (which, I would then use with the -rebuild command).  While the command was running, I observed the output in the command window and could see that it was correctly identifying the missing documents/content.  The command created the .csv file - but did NOT populate it with ANY entries!  Therefore, I'm unable to run the -rebuild command.  It seems like the -c exist option is working correctly, but is not populating the .csv file.

I ended up having to restore my backup.

Is this possibly some result of this being the "watered down" version of Enterprise Vault?  Is there someway for me to rebuild the index?  I posted this in BackupExec instead of Enterprise Vault, since this is the Archive Option in BE I'm working with.  Most of the documentation I've found regarding index troubleshooting/rebuild points toward the use of the 'indexcheck.exe' command from EV support forums and pages.  But, I'm guessing that not all of that documentation would apply to the Archive Option within BE.

Is it possible to exclude files by extension in ralus.cfg? I already created an exclusion rule within backup exec server however I can still see these file types being scanned by the backup exec agent which appear to be causing our access denied errors that have been randomly occuring. I managed to exclude files based on folder within ralus.cfg, but not by file extension/name.

I have a tape library with two FC LTO-4 drives.

My library is listed as Library02 with IBM 0001 and IBM 0002.

All my policies are told to use Library02.

I have been having a few dup jobs that que up waiting for IBM0001 when IBM0002 is free.

I look at the start times and current job using IBM0001 started 45 minutes before the qued up job.

What is going on?

Hello,

I'm looking at the Backup exec 2010 R3 SCL. It states the it can support only Exchange 2010 SP2. Does the backup server itself need to be a 2008R2 system? I think I'm missing that part. Currently mine is 2003 SP2. Also, is there a possibe update to support Exchange 2010 SP3?
