One of our consultants upgraded backup exec from 2010 - 2012 and it is failing on one of the dfs shares. I have tried including it as another selection and even creating a new job. I get the below error when browsing to it:

we are using BackupExec 12.5 on a Windows Server 2003 with a Quantum Tape Loader.
Befor 2 month we made a Full Backup of our data (20 TB) and have done a verify after -> everything went ok.
Now we needed a part of that Backup back, because an employee deleted accidentially a folder (200 GB). We tried to recover that folder from the Backup. but were getting constantly an error: Error e00084d4
So we were still not able to recover this folder all in all, after doing an verify again .> we got the result that everything was ok :-// ?!?!? But Still not able to recover the folder !!!
Gladly i had a second backup, whe i could restore the desired folder, but know i'm somewhat scared, that all the backup and verify doesn't keep me me safe from such errors. Do someone has any experience with that ?? Because now i'm thinking about a disk to disk backup and get rid of that Tape solution, when there is no eveidence to get a verified and functional backup.
Here is the exact procedure:
04.05.2013 –Creating the Backup (19.687 TB – 10 LTO5 Tapes – 71 Hours – Verify ok )
24.06.2013 –We had to restore a Folder from the Backup (est. 250 GB) – Error e00084d4 (With and without fast restore, as mentioned in the KB – the error appears) Other Folders worked to restore – the one needed NOT
01.07.2013 –Verifying of the complete Set (19.687 TB – No errors, Verify complete after 30 Hours)
03.07.2013-Tried to restore the folder – Error e00084d4
08.07.2013 –Verifying of the specific folder (250 GB) only – Aborted by us after 90 Hours and 70 TB verifying
As mentioned above our main Question is why the verifying finds no error, but the Restore is not possible.

Two jobs simultaneously:
After i "upgraded" to backup Exec 2012 SP1 i've had a few issues, the biggest issue is:
We've got an Quantum Scalar i500 robotic library with 2 tapedrives and i've got the Library Expansion Option license installed. I run a full backup every weekend weekend, but 1st weekend of the month i do an additional job of the month, full offline. With latest version of backup Exec 2012 i'm not able to run more than 1 backup at a time, even though 1 tape drive isn't used. The jobs were imported from Backup Exec 2010.

When i select edit job and it opens the Backup Properties, the query for my server can take 5-10 minutes before the resources appear, and credentials for
Shadow Copy components don't pass even though i've entered correct password. Notice this also happens even though i've unselected Shadow Copy components since backups failed after "upgrade". Any solution?
I've also noticed that backup can lockup (Notice when the large "full backup" has run for 3+ days), and i'm unable to cancel them, restarting backup exec
won't be completed, need to actually restart server. Any known issues? Never had any problems with this server related to this on backup exec 2010

Few days back C drive of my Backup Server got full and I recognize that it is due to the catalog folder. Then I moved the catalog folder to the new location by stopping the Backup Exec services by just renaming the old catalog folder to catalog.old and moved it to the new location. After this my space issue got resovled and backup are running smooth. But today one query has come to met restore some data from the old backup which is now in the old catalog folder. So can I copy the catalog from new location to old location and catalog them back to the current to get the catalog information of last month. So if I am able to see the last month catalog on backup server then I would be able to recover the data from that catalog. I am only worried about that it should not be mixed with the current catalog data.

I need a solution. A have 3 backup jobs which I don't see in BackupExec Console, but I can see them in through powershell. When I want to delete them I get this reply. Can you please give me an advice, what could be the reason of that ?

We regularly back up a volume presented from a NetApp SAN. It would appear that someone has f'ed up the permissions a share within the volume.
Is it possible to use BEXEC to restore only the permissions of a shared folder back to the one in use?

I'm facing a problem since last week.
My backup server is a Windows 2008 R2 with BE 2012 (v14)
We're not able to scan anymore, nor inventory tapes or unlock library. We always have the message : "Unable to create the utility items. Unknown reason : {0}."
Reboot the server doesn't help.
It seems to be related to the DB size which has reached 4Go.
When I launch BEutility and make a Compact Database, it allows me to make the operation I want.
Do you have an idea on how to resolve this problem ?

Just started getting this a little over a week ago. Everything has been working fine, now i cannot select the mailboxes anymore. I know it is a legacy option but i still like using it. I went through the procedure of all the steps just to double check everything was still in place, it's not hidden, all the rights are still there etc. I even reset the password in ad and backup exec and still no luck. The account isnt locked or anything. Any suggestions would be great.

We have reinstalled backup exec on the Media server. Once we finishe that on Device Manage the Media Changer give errror "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)" , we have tried to uninstall and install but still same error. We use HP StoreEver 1/8 G2 LTO-4 Ultrium 1760 SCSI Autoloader and Backup Exec 201 R3 .

I have been trying to install the Shared Storage Option on an environment and am having problems when setting up the secondary SSO. The setup is as follows
2x Backup Servers running Backup Exec 2010 R3 on Windows 2008 R2 (BK1 and BK2)
1x HP MSL2024
During the initial installation I installed a full version of Backup Exec on each of the servers. The Tape Library is visible on both servers and I set up a number of jobs on each server. I then realise that to share the tape library I need to use the SSO option.
I therefore set up BK1 as the Primary SSO server. I then proceeded to install Secondary SSO on BK2, but after the installation completed, all the backup exec services could not start and the following error is reported

Based on some rsearch in the forms I have done the following:
Opended TCP and UDP 135 from BK2 to BK1
Unistalled the Secondary SSO and Re-installed
Used the BEUtility.exe to set BK2 as Secondary SSO
None of the above have resolved the issue. Can you please provide some assistance.

I am running a Exchange GRT restore of one subfolder inside a mailbox. Restore from Tape and B2D (Duplicated from Tape). The restore from tape starts and completes stagging, but after that it is stuck. Restore from B2D starts and goes to running state but stays at 0 bytes till i cancel it.
I enabled SGmon at Media server and Exchange server. Found that the restore is at "Mailbox name Resolve to ====>" line. I even see the restore email that we will receive before the restore begins. I had BE 2010 r1 previously and so updated it to 2010 r3. All clients are updated with RAWS. I even created a new service account with domain admin access, Exchange Org role, Not hidden in GAL, Unique name. And Exchange management tool is installed in Backup Server.
I have been breaking my head for past 3 days. I can not go to Symantec support, as i dont find license certification for that site. It would be really help if someone here could help me. I am definitely missing something or overlooked something, I just can't figure out what. Please help.
I have server a that has BE 12 installed. Maintenance licenses have been purchased for BE 2012. These were intended to work in conjuction with the existing licenses. The new licenses will not install on the existing installation. Will I need to upgrade the existing installation first? Or do we need to exchange or purchase different licensing?

I am new to Backup Exec 2010. For the past few weeks, I have just been exporting and importing Weekly backup tapes without any issues. Basically, importing OLD Weekly tapes from storage that are in an "Overwritable" state has been seamless. They become Weekly backup tapes again after import, retaining the original state they were in before the were exported out of the server.
However, when I tried to do the same for MONTHLY backup tapes, I noticed that instead of becoming MONTHLY backup tapes again after the import, ALL of them became SCRATCH MEDIA. What did I do wrong and how do I correct this?

I just move the Enterprise Vault Database to a new SQL 2008 server by using this technote: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH35744. The database move success and EV works normally.
Then I install agent on new SQL server and edit the EV backup job in backupexec, change it backup the EV database from new SQL database. Run the test credentials is OK.
However, the job was failed and error is "0xe0008492 - Database Query Failure. See the job log for details." and "an error occurred on a query to database".
Now I only can use the backup task in SQL Server itself to backup the .bak first.

I am trying to backup exchange 2012 with backupexec 2012 to disk, the file extension that I expect would be .bkf, but at the end couple giant .edb file shows up on destination folder, may I know if it is normal? Is that possible to pack it into same extension as other backup (.bkf) ?
